Stampin' Up! Catalog Premier - The Main Event - Sacramento

My Upline Julie Douglas (center) and Sidelines
So the swappers swapped, excited ladies mingled & speculated! It was gorgeous weather, and while the rest of the country was starting an evening event, it was only just before 4pm here in California! A beautiful spring afternoon! And then the doors opened, and we were invited into Regal Cinemas, Natomas!!
Tickets in hand we're waiting in line after getting our wristbands.
For never having done a multi-site, simulcast event, this was handled very well I thought! Once we entered, we checked in with the Stampin' Up! representatives, and picked a wristband. *Note To Self: When picking your own wristband, choose the odd-one-out!! Dangit, and I knew as soon as I saw them that they were for Prize Patrol!! But did I grab that lone odd design amid the sea of orange stripes? Nooooo. Sad, sad, face!! I did NOT win Prize Patrol!!*
Then we got in line to enter the theatre. We even had our name up on the movie guide, theater 12 :

Inside it was just like being at a mini-convention (minus the awesome entrance tunnel of Stampin' Up! employees) with the big screen showing a really cool movie premier style graphic of the Stampin' Up! logo. (video on Instagram)

We found seats, and really, no seat was a bad seat - its a movie theater!! So cool! Then I ran to get something to snack on, and find the Check In Sign that I wanted a picture with. (See Instagram ) Then back to our seats for the MAIN EVENT!!

We had the pleasure of seeing Shelly Gardner, CEO and co-founder of Stampin' Up! welcome us to the event. She shared some updates on her health and family, and then we got to see the cover of the catalog!! I'm sure you've seen a hundred pics of it by now, but I think its just really well thought out! It captures the essence, inspiring and creating, but also my favorite - sharing! I love the 3 sets of hands working together yet separately on projects. There are some great little details to catch your eye and interest:

Some new products, some returning favorites, its a great cover I think! What did you think when you saw it?

We spent the next two incredibly fast hours getting a tour of the catalog from familiar faces at Stampin' Up!, and oh my gosh, when they post the recording this weekend you really have to go watch!! It was full of laughs, and oohs and ahhhs! Such a great presentation!

As we left the theatre, we were handed our copy of this months Stampin' Success Magazine for Demonstrators (delayed this month in anticipation of the Premiere, the cover is totally awesome! ;) and a FREE STAMP SET (woot woot!!!) and the best parting gift of all - the NEW CATALOG!

Yeah, so we didn't exactly rush out of the theater then! Lots of people just couldn't wait to open and see for themselves the new goodies!
A new Demo - joined during Sale-a-bration, so exciting for her!!
Smiles all around as we thumbed through!

... and then we did leave the theater, and headed to a spot where we could browse at our leisure!

Stampin" Up! Catalog Premier - Road Trip to Sacramento

My Stampin' sisters come from the Central Valley of California, cities like Merced, Turlock, Modesto, and Ceres. We met, and carpooled up to Stockton where we stopped for lunch at El Torritos.

It was such a pleasant drive and lunch, talking about projects and ideas and all the crafty talk that I just cant talk with people who are not as into it as I am!! My goodness, one of those feelings of enjoyment and understanding that you just didn't know what you were missing until you found it?! The whole day was like this. Such a great day!!

After lunch we got back into the car for the final leg of the trip, but not without a little sweet treat from my Up-Upline, Kim Molesworth! Delicious cookies!
We had no trouble driving, despite the massive road construction on the I-5, and arrived at the theater with time to spare! So we wandered and got coffee and shopped a little before it was time to head over fo some of the organized swaps and to get in line.
Beautiful roses all over the shopping center here.
The organized swaps seemed very organized, LOL! I really wish I had been able to fit time in to make swaps, but it just wasn't happening with my schedule the last two weeks! Luckily, my group allowed me to take pictures, so I'll share those with you in a later post!

Easter Garland - the Egg Edition

It was so much fun making the Easter Bunny Garland (you can see that post here)! A comment on one of my pictures prompted me to continue playing around with my paper strips, and I came up with the Easter Egg to add to the garland! Love it!

MidnightCrafting Paper Egg Bunny Carrot Easter Garland
Easter Garlands by Midnight Crafter Angela Bodas
Its essentially the same process to create:
The outside of the Egg is a 12" x 1.25" strip of Designer Series Paper, folded in half and a little 2'x1" strip folded in half is inserted and stapled into the fold to be the hanging tab at the top.
A hole is punched in the tab:

Which came First the Carrot or the Egg? ;-) The Carrot, siwwy wabbit!!

Then the Inside strips are all 1" wide, and 10", 8", and 6" long in assorted colors. Overlap the two ends and staple the whole stack together. Then string them up and Enjoy!!

You can order Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper packs in my online store, www.MidnightCrafting.StampinUp.net
and of course I recommend our awesome Stampin' Trimmer to make cutting your project perfectly easy!
This week there is FREE SHIPPING on everything! (4/20 - 4/25/2014) So check it out!

Current Subscribers

Take advantage of the Discount!! When you purchase the discounted 6 or 12 month subscription, and enter the redemption code in your account, your pre-paid subscription will be used up before any more months are charged to your payment information! $ave on the Fun!!

Uninterrupted Subscriptions

When your recipients redeem the subscriptions on www.mypaperpumpkin.com, they can put in payment information at checkout to keep receiving their monthly kits once the prepaid subscription ends (although they aren't required to give payment information!).

How It Works

  1. When you place an order in my online store at www.MidnightCrafter.StampinUp.net , you'll receive an e-mail with instructions on how to redeem the prepaid subscription.
  2. You’ll go (or you can share the code with someone to give it as a gift) to www.mypaperpumpkin.com and enter the redemption code.
  3. You’ll start enjoying your monthly Paper Pumpkin project kit the very next month!!

Tips

  • This is an easy way to earn Hostess Rewards, when people buy Paper Pumpkin Subscriptions you will earn rewards just as if they were purchasing paper or stamps! Perfect for a catalog party, for your "non-crafty" friends, or those crafters who have "Everything".
  • Think of all your friends who'd love to receive a project kit every month! You can get together and work on them for a fun craft night, a or gift them to relatives far away and share your completed projects.
  • Put in your payment information when you're redeeming the prepaid subscription so you'll get to continue receiving your monthly kit after the prepaid subscription ends. (But you won't have to put in payment information if you don't want to.)
  • I love getting my paper pumpkin kit! Its exciting to receive it each month, everything already designed and prepped for me, and its fun to put together the projects - especially when I don’t have to do any work to get ready but Open the Box! If you’re nervous about committing, a three-month prepaid subscription is a good trial so you can learn how much you’ll love it!!
  • If you are a current Paper Pumpkin subscriber, this is an awesome option now available. Consider a prepaid subscription as a gift for a friend! With Mother’s Day, Graduations, Birthdays, Bridal and Baby Showers, your gift can be the one that stands out! Busy people need easy craft breaks too!!
  • The first Kit everyone receives, no matter what month they start, is the Welcome Kit!
  • Suspend your subscription to be able to get the kit of the month when you wnat to start up again - if you Cancel and then restart, your first kit will be the Welcome Kit again!!

The Fine Print

  • Prepaid subscriptions can be made on all order types:  workshop, customer, or online.
  • Each Paper Pumpkin account can only use one redemption code at a time. For example, if someone buys two six-month prepaid subscriptions, they'll enter the first code and then after six months can enter the second code.
  • When calculating an order which includes a prepaid subscription, remember that shipping is included-so you won't have to figure shipping for that item; however, you will need to include tax (use the hostess's tax rate).
  • While not intended to be a gift subscription program, you can buy a prepaid subscription and give it as a gift. You'd just purchase the prepaid subscription and when you receive the redemption code, share it with the recipient of your choice who can redeem the subscription at www.mypaperpumpkin.com.
  • Redemption codes will become invalid if not used within three years of the purchase date (two years for residents of California).

Easter Daffodil Banner - Floral Framelits

EasteMidnightCrafting.com Easter Cross Banner Spring Daffodil Flower Floral Framelits
Spring Flower Easter Banner - Floral Framelits make up the Daffodils
Easter Daffodil Banner - I was looking on Google, as I can usually be found doing, and came across a Beatrix Potter Easter wreath. I was taken by the daffodils (even though there is not a very good picture of them to be found at all!!) and thought I could make something similar with the Floral Framelits!
So, as my darling daughter destroyed my craft room - I wish I was joking, or it was only for alliterations sake, but sadly NO - I played around and came up with this banner!
I am pleased overall with it: I love the way the cross came out on the T and the flowers are exactly what I wanted. I think I will make a couple more to sell at the Carnival later this month, but I will use some more pastel colors. Purple, pink, a light green...

The Pearls may be my favorite accent... the butterflies pop nicely too, though!
MidnightCrafting.com Easter Cross Banner Spring Daffodil Flower Floral Framelits
Every letter has pearl accents. I love the finished product!
The flowers are cut with the Stampin' Up! Floral Framelits on the Big Shot, using the two largest dies on Crushed Curry and Whisper White Card Stock. The centers are punched with the Scallop punches and popped up a little with Stampin' Up! Dimensionals. I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die for the butterfly accents in Melon Mambo. Some little flowers are added with the scallop from the Punch Pack, accented with Basic Jewels Pearls - which I also used to accent the cross on the letter T. The cross is die cut with the Lattice Die, then trimmed to shape. The banner pennants were cut from Garden Green Card Stock. The letters were cut using my Silhouette Cameo and Pool Party Card Stock.

Not bad for a #crafternoon project!
I made it, and I can show you how - come to one of my events, or set up a private class! I'd love to share ideas with you, and help you bring your ideas to life.

Easter Bunny & Carrot Garland

I'm 'hopping' with excitement to share this with you!! :-))
MidnightCrafting.com Bunny and Carrot Garland made of Stampin Up Paper
Hoppy Easter!!
Like most of you, I pinned the adorable paper carrot garlands, you see them in felt or paper - they're just too cute!! I thought it would be a great item to make for the craft fair I have coming up, so I set about making one. I used the Stampin' Up! Brights Designer Series Paper Stack, following the measurements Lisa Storms shares over at Fiskars. When I had all my sweet carrots made up and ready to string, I thought  "Oh... cute... but its missing something!"
I should add a bunny to the sequence, to really give it some Easter flair!!
Looking around for some instructions, or at least a photo (me and my love affair with Google again!) I found NO matching bunnies!! So I came up with the idea to make one like the carrots, but in white... and here they are!
Stampin' Up Designer Series Paper Neutrals
and Pink Pirouette Card Stock

The measurements are similar to the carrots, but as I wasn't going to trim the edges with the scallop border, I made the strips for the bunnies only 1.25" wide. The ears are 0.75", and the pink strips are 0.5" wide. The length is 12" for the body, 6" for the ears, and 4" for the pinks inside the ears. For the pink inside the body, I used an 8.5" strip cut to 0.5" too.
Follow same assembly method as for the carrots.
Assembling the bunny is almost identical to the carrot, it is just a matter of layering your ear pieces and tucking them into the body and stapling, flipping the long pieces out and down. But then, instead of stapling the bottom into a point like the carrot, you overlap and round the body and staple the inside pink piece together.

And Voila!! An adorable addition to the carrot garland!
At least, I thought so! Hope you like it too!!
